IKEA STORAGE

I thought nothing of this simple storage which I had altered  a couple of years ago until a crafting pal commented on it and asked how I made them.

I wanted to store 12 x 12 paper on my expedit shelves without going to too much expense. I had bought a couple of packs of these magazine holders from Ikea to hold my A4 papers. They were very reasonable. I think I paid one pound sterling at the time.  Now they cost 1.69 euro for 5. Still amazing  value !
To start with I cut out the front of one and the back of another.

I used some sticky tape to hold the inside flaps closed. I then fit one into the other and used a pack of 12 x 12 pattern paper to decide on the length. I discarded the small piece and the cut off the flap from the longer piece.

The long piece I put inside to reinforce the base.

I made these at the time as a temporary storage. Over two years later I am still using them and they do the job just fine.

IKEA DRAWERS - ALEX

More photos of Alex drawer from Ikea as requested.

To make dividers for the alex drawers from Ikea I used some white foam board. You can just about make out two pieces of foam board I used to prop up a long piece lenght ways.  I did this to block off the back of the drawer. I did not want ribbon to go in the back as I would not be able to see it clearly.

I cut out pieces 7 cm x 3.5 cm or 7 cm x 7 cm for large ones.

I bagged very small lengths of ribbon in colour order.

The remaining drawers.  One I used for projects I am working on (not shown).

I dipped into my supply of 2 inch round clear lid aluminum tins for storing brads and small embellishments.

The button jars are also from Ikea.

January Mission - craft room organization

I like to jump straight into the new year and get rid of any clutter around the house. To be honest there is n't much clutter in the house but the craft room, well that's another matter. When I am busy preparing for the winter craft fairs I seem to go from one project to another and I end up with baskets of left over ends of ribbon, patterned paper, card stock, stickers, embellishments. To start the year afresh and renew my mojo I decided to start with my ribbon collection.

It was a great idea in the beginning and a great idea at the end but well right in the middle I thought I must be cracked in the head. But now I have a beautifully organized drawer of ribbon ( one more to go, I'll post photos in a week or so ........)

I just love my Alex set of drawers from Ikea. They are perfect. They open smoothly, move so easily on my wooden floor. They are just perfect for crafting.
