Christmas Craft Fair 2012

Well the car is all packed and ready for my 2012 craft fair. The above photo is one I took this week as I did a quick mock set up in my kitchen! Thanks to my very talented hubby I have a wonderful backdrop for my table. I am really pleased and delighted with the finish. I have made lots of new items this year. I am especially proud of my sewn items.  Do you see the Santa figure sitting in the background. It is from the Tilda range. I had so much fun making it. It will just be used as a prop and will not be for sale. All my stock is kept in big plastic containers hidden under the table and behind the tablecloth !

Fingers crossed now that there is a good turnout at the fair and that the weather improves.  As soon as I get a chance I will blog how the fair went and give more details of the items sold and prices etc.

Happy weekend.

Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

The inspiration for the challenge was from the following photo.

Well HELLO there !

Having had a VERY VERY  busy few weeks leading up to Christmas with last minute crafting for the craft fairs I am only getting back now to blogging. Thankfully all the hectic preparations and extra work for the fairs paid off and I raised 2002.30 euro for SVP Ireland (Dublin branch). A big sincere thank you to all my crafting buddies in Ireland for your support, motivation and encouragement.

I am back with this notebook cum desk note pad. I was shown this  idea of using an easel card on the top of the notebook by a crafting buddy. She had  learnt it at a card making class http://jackiesworkshops.blogspot.com/ here in Dublin. I adapted it to work on the long skinny notebooks as these are my favourite. For this sample I used my Tesco notebooks ( I just could n't open my little treasured set of  Papertrey Ink ones !)

I have prepared this project to partake in the Papertrey Ink April 2012 Blog Hop. I promised myself no matter what happened this week I was going to join in. I got inspiration for the top of the notebook from http://lilybeanpaperie.typepad.com/lilybeans_paperie/.  I hope you enjoy.

Papertrey Ink items used :   sentiment from Daydreamer Set and green felt.
Patterned papers from Flowergarden paper pad by Tilda, ribbons and lace from stash. Trinket pin made from fancy beads and long sewing pins.

MORE NOTEBOOKS

A few more notebooks in preparation for fair in March.
These are my favourite so far !

I love this little dish. I got it as a present with tiny rose bushes in it years ago. I use it at this time every year.

MORE NOTEBOOKS

Today my local store Tesco donated these to my fund raising efforts. It is a tremendous help. A big Thank You to Tesco. Together with the supply I have been collecting in the past couple of weeks I now have 100 to cover !

I had some lovely Laura Ashley paper out on my desk so I had to just go ahead and make one.
I used Papertrey ink Melon Berry card stock and lux satin ribbon and other items from my stash.
As the notebooks measure 7.5cm width, 21 cm height and .5cm deep , I cut the card stock to 15.5 cm x 21 cm and scored it at 7.5 cm and 8cm . The patterned paper I cut to 7 cm  width and 20.5 cm height.
I cut a small strip of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm for the top of the first page.

I used a 2inch scallop punch and a 1 1/2 inch circle punch. I printed out the note topper and
put a coloured adhesive pearl over the letter O.

I cut a little strip of patterned paper to put inside the pen. This particular patterned paper is light and easy enough to roll.

Oh so cute !  99 more to go.  Ha Ha. Will I think they are cute when I eventually finish them all  ! LOL.

Notebooks

I love altering notebooks. Particularly the long skinny ones. I first came across them on  the Mish Mash Blog
http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/
about 18months ago. Since then I have made at least 200 for charity.  They look lovely together with a matching pen tied up with a nice ribbon and I find it very hard to resist adding a little sparkly gem !

I don't use stamps for the toppers. I type them up and adjust the font or size to choice, then print and punch.
They sell for approx 4 euro each.  Originally I bought the plain notebooks for 24 cent each  in Tesco but the price has been increased to 66 cent each. Making the base cost of a double notebook  1.32 euro. I was lucky to have been donated many by crafting pals for my last fundraising fair.  Thank you girls !

It's my personal day

I love crafting but sometimes I get caught up in projects that I fail to make time to make "stuff" just for myself. I was inspired by a wonderful post on this site
http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/2010/01/12-day-of-me.html
to make plans and set aside some time. To recharge the aul batteries. Last year I did this each month until June.  I did make time for myself in the past six months but I didn't sit down and plan it.  I think the planning makes it that little bit  more special. It says "YOU'RE WORTH IT"
So for the new year I will make a new planner and set aside one day a month. I'll keep you posted !
This was last year's planner.

I made some extra and I sold them at a Summer Fete for charity for 4 euro each . Customers loved them.  So thanks again Michelle Wooderson!
